SUMMARY:Roundhouse Foundation Artist Residency: Terry Moss Wood Carving Workshop + Chainsaw Carving Demo
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a wood carving workshop and chainsaw carving demo at the Spray General Store! Many thanks to the Roundhouse Foundation for making this possible. \nTerry Moss has been an accomplished woodworker for much of his adult life. But in 2016 he wanted to try something different and was drawn to the idea of woodcarving. He took his first woodcarving class and as they say\, “the rest is history.” Terry has always been interested in the caricature style of woodcarving and enjoys making people smile. Three years ago\, he attended a chainsaw carving event and was fascinated by the idea of connecting caricature to larger blocks of wood. After a chainsaw carving class and many hours of practice\, Terry has become a “chainsaw artist.” He recently competed in the Oregon Divisional Chainsaw Carving Championships in Reedsport Oregon. Like his carvings in miniature\, his work continues to bring joy and big smiles to his audience. \nTerry is the current President of the Capitol Woodcarvers Club in Salem Oregon and the President of the Northwest Carving Academy in Ellensburg Washington. With some tips and a few techniques\, his instruction can send you on your own woodcarving journey. His class will feature an overview of the craft\, basic tool selection\, sharpening and safety. Students will then carve their own western themed ornament. \nSaturday\, July 29 \n11am Presentation (open to all)\n1-4pm Carving workshop (open to 10 participants) \nSunday\, July 30 10am\nChainsaw carving demo (open to all)
