SUMMARY:Creative Heights Artist Residency: Watercolor Painting with Leslie Barnum
DESCRIPTION:Join acclaimed watercolor artist Leslie Barnum as she shares her techniques with us in two sessions: \nSaturday\, June 7th 9am – 12pm \nTake the intimidation out of watercolor by experimenting and playing as you paint. This 3 hour workshop will begin with learning basic watercolor techniques. During the second half of the workshop students will create their own landscape painting to take home. This class is appropriate for students with no prior experience or those with very little experience in watercolor. \nSaturday\, June 7th 1pm – 5pm \nWe will focus on painting flowers during this workshop. Students may bring their own photo reference or choose from one provided. Leslie will talk about creating a strong composition\, value study and color scheme. This workshop is appropriate for students who have previous watercolor skills. \nThese workshops were made possible by the Oregon Community Foundation’s Creative Heights Grant. \n

Brynn Opsahl will be leading us with slow stretches to ease pain and reduce strain\, followed by a joint small tea ceremony with Brianna Sas\, a doctor of East Asian medicine and a lifelong student of daoist philosophy and healing arts\, who will give us the experience of a sound bath. Brianna finds inspiration in the subtle but profound workings of nature and explores how our bodies are innate reflections of the earth itself. Her deepest purpose in life is to weave slow medicine practices through movement\, meditation\, tea and sound as a way to offer deep rest and nourishment to the collective.
